Elena Voscova (b. 1982, Prague) is an artist whose practice investigates the materiality of time and the architectural unconscious. Drawing from her background in structural engineering, Voscova treats the canvas not as a surface for representation, but as a site of construction and collapse.
Her process involves applying thick layers of oil and industrial sediment, which are then scraped, eroded, and rebuilt—mimicking the lifecycle of urban structures. The resulting works are topographic maps of memory, where ghost lines of previous states remain visible beneath the surface.
Voscova’s work has been exhibited internationally, including solo presentations at the Kunsthalle Basel and The Serpentine Gallery, London. Her works are held in the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and the Tate Modern, London.
